Yesterday Boeing submitted its response to the call for tenders for Germany’s future heavy transport helicopter (STH). The invitation to tender was published by the German procurement agency BAAINBw in June 2019. The contract for the procurement of 44 to 60 helicopters, including maintenance, repair and training, is expected to be awarded in 2021.
Boeing offers their proven H-47 Chinook helicopter. With more than 950 aircraft in 20 countries, including 8 NATO countries (Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States), the Chinook is one of the world’s most proven heavy transport helicopter. It also has a technology roadmap that will keep it at the cutting edge of technology for the next decades.
“We have submitted our response to the invitation to tender and look forward working with BAAINBw and German industry to provide the Bundeswehr with the best solution,” said Michael Hostetter, Vice President for Boeing Defense, Space & Security in Germany. “The H-47 Chinook is a unique platform that can perform missions other helicopters can not. It is a proven multi-mission capable heavy transport helicopter with advanced technology that meets the requirements of Germany.”
