Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH will be able to start training operations with the first Full Flight Simulators (Level D) for the Airbus H145/H135. This comes after qualification in accordance with EASA Level D by the German Federal Aviation Office on 27th August 2020. With the introduction of the FFS, Lufthansa Aviation Training is expanding its training portfolio in this segment and thus covering the high demand for training opportunities for Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS crews).
The FFS, manufactured by Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (RST), is equipped with an interchangeable cockpit (having been delivered with an H145 model) with the H135 version to follow in early 2021. In addition, the FFS has a Third Crew Member Station, which uses virtual reality technology to train crew coordination during abseiling from the helicopter while pilots can bring their own night vision goggles to enhance the realism of the mission. The helicopter simulator developed by RST sets new training standards thanks to the high resolution of the visuals and further added value is provided by the intuitive Instructor Operating Station which can be used to create customised scenarios. Training flights can also be recorded and replayed for debriefing.
