The Netherlands will buy 34 PATRIOT Advanced Capability‑3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) missiles and related equipment from the U.S. at an estimated cost of US$241m. This comes after the Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale yesterday.
In addition to the request for 34 PAC-3 MSEs, eight kitted 2-pack PAC-3 MSE Missile Round Trainers (MRT) and six kitted 2-pack PAC-3 MSE Empty Round Trainers (ERT) are included in the deal. The new missile defence capability will help The Netherlands to meet current and future enemy threats, enhancing its homeland defence and deterring regional adversaries while providing direct support to coalition and security cooperation efforts. The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin.
