The Israeli Navy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence Directorate of Defense Research & Development (MOD DDR&D) has successfully conducted a trial of a new anti-ship missile system developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to ensure Israel’s continued naval superiority. The preplanned series of trials were conducted in order to ascertain the system’s operational capabilities which include longer range, improved offensive flexibility and being better equipped to engage advanced threats. The missiles will be integrated into the existing SA’AR 5 and the new SA’AR 6 corvette classes, with the latter scheduled to join the 3rd Flotilla (the Israeli Navy’s Missile Boat group) in the coming months.
