ARES Shipyard, which specialises in Naval Craft and Patrol Boats, has presented the ULAQ Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) which was jointly developed with technology company METEKSAN, who specialise in rocket technology and Unmanned Systems. ULAQ is mainly designed for offensive use but can also be used for reconnaissance, port and coastal protection. The system can be carried on the latest corvettes and frigates of the Turkish Navy as an important component for special tasks. The USV is 11m long, has a range of 215nm and a top speed of 35 knots. The payload is 2 tons while it is capable of carrying four CIRIT laser guided missiles and two L-UMTAS long-range anti-tank missiles, which will also be used on the ATAK-129 Turkish Attack Helicopter.
