The Marine Electrical Systems business unit of Wärtsilä SAM Electronics GmbH, headquartered in Hamburg, has been commissioned by Damen to provide electrical systems integration for the German Navy’s F126 frigate project, according to a press release by Damen.
Damen awarded the contract in October after an extensive tendering and coordination phase lasting several years. In addition to the integration of all electrical systems, the scope of supply and services also includes:
- production and delivery of the switchgear
- the power distribution system and the degaussing system
- delivery of the lighting system and special systems for the power supply
- the complete associated ILS documentation
Wärtsilä will thus be involved throughout the entire duration of the project. Following the engineering phase, which will take place in the Netherlands and Germany, the company will be responsible for the installation and connection work as well as the commissioning of the entire cable system and its own scope of supply at all three construction yards in northern Germany (Hamburg, Wolgast and Kiel), Damen writes.
