At this year’s ILA Berlin air show, Avio Aero had the full CATALYST turboprop engine on display. In part, the engine comprises 3D-printed components and the programme continues to undergo testing for certification, Avio Aero writes in a press release

Reportedly, CATALYST is the first original turboprop designed, developed, and manufactured for business & general aviation in Europe in more than 50 years. The engine made its maiden flight in Berlin in September 2021. According to AvioAero, CATALYST has today been flight-tested more than 300 hours and achieved more than 3,700 hours of combined ground and air operations with 19 engines assembled. In March 2022, Airbus announced its selection of Avio Aero to power the EURODRONE unmanned aerial system with the Catalyst engine.
