Curtiss-Wright has announced that it has been awarded contracts valued at approximately US$120m to provide generators for the US Navy’s future COLUMBIA class ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs). The work is due to be performed at Curtiss-Wright Naval and Power’s facility in Cheswick, Pennsylvania. The COLUMBIA class submarine is due to replace OHIO class SSBNs in US Navy service. The lead ship of the class is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
