On 3 October 2022, UK defence technology company SEA announced that it had signed a strategic partnership agreement with Indonesian defence procurement company BTI Defence, to provide the Indonesian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Navy with access to maritime defence technology. The partnership was signed at the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2022, and will see SEA’s capabilities marketed to the Indonesian Armed Forces.

SEA developments have included Integrated Maritime Communications Systems and the Krait Defence System. The latter is intended to provide Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities for smaller vessels, and consists of the KraitSense Towed Array Sonar system, KraitSearch active sonar system, KraitShield acoustic decoy system, and Kraitstrike lightweight torpedo launcher.

BTI Defence is an Indonesian defence procurement specialist which was founded in 2015, and has since undertaken maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), modernisation and supply contracts for the Indonesian Armed Forces.
