European Security & Defence magazine (ESD) secured a double win at this year’s Defence Media Awards, which were held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, on 8 October 2023 on the eve of the Association of the US Army’s annual symposium.

ESD Editor-in-Chief Mark Cazalet won the ‘Best Breaking News Submission’ award with an article entitled ‘Assessing the Causes of the Przewodów Incident’, while ESD contributor Samuel Bendett won in the ‘Best Unmanned System Submission’ category with an article entitled ‘The State of Autonomy, AI & Robotics for Russia’s Ground Vehicles’.

Overall, ESD was shortlisted 15 times at this year’s Defence Media Awards: more nominations than any other single publication.

Congratulations also to all the other winners on a night that celebrates the best work in defence journalism and thanks to organiser Peter Bradfield and the DMA judges for making the event possible.
