Finnish defence and technology company Patria announced the acquisition of Belgium-based digital defence platform provider ILIAS Solutions on 29 January 2025, stating that the goal of the acquisition is to expand its range of digital services.
Patria’s strong position and expertise in the maintenance and repair of military vehicle fleets will be strengthened by the ILIAS platform, the companies explained in a joint press release. The ILIAS software will be incorporated into Patria’s OPTIME service, which offers cross-fleet management for optimal performance across defence forces and ensuring focus on mission success.
“High-end MRO [maintenance, repair and overhaul] services with data-driven solutions and intelligent analytics are becoming increasingly important, if not essential, to ensure optimal performance and availability across fleets. We at Patria are excited about the acquisition of the leading defence platform and the start of our joint journey with the ILIAS Solutions team,” said Pekka Ruutu, executive vice president of Patria’s Portfolio unit. “There are clear synergies between the two companies and benefits for both companies’ customers as well as for our joint European programmes when Patria’s OPTIME service concept is operated with ILIAS’ defence platform.”
“The seamless combination of ILIAS Solutions’ software suite with Patria’s OPTIME service concept and access to our common European and global markets offer tremendous potential for both companies,” added Jean-Pierre Wildschut, chief executive officer of ILIAS Solutions. “Furthermore, as a tri-service provider, ILIAS Solutions will particularly benefit from Patria’s strong heritage in land systems, extending our solid expertise in military air operations.”
Through the effective use of data, Patria OPTIME now enables better predictive maintenance, proactive planning and streamlined supply chain management, ultimately increasing fleet availability and performance, according to the company.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals in the countries where ILIAS Solutions has offices, including Australia, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States.
The acquisition price has not been disclosed.
