Meckenheim-based defence electronics company ELT Group Germany has appointed Markus Holz as vice president for sales and marketing and as a member of the company’s management board.

Holz, who took up his new position in January 2025, brings with him broad management experience and portfolio knowledge gained in various responsible positions at major defence companies.

After serving as an officer in the Bundeswehr, Holz initially worked at Airbus in the C3I/C4I and soldier equipment division. After that he worked for Hensoldt and was director of its Future Combat Air Systems (FCAS) business unit, most recently as consortium leader in the steering committee of FCMS GbR: an association of German companies for services related to the tri-national FCAS/NGWS programme. This was followed by his role as vice president and head of the C4I & Cyber business unit at Elbit Systems Deutschland.

“Not least due to his operational and mission experience in the German armed forces and his broad, technical portfolio expertise and system experience, Holz is an essential element of the management team in driving the group forward in the area of innovation,” Dr Marcello Mariucci, managing director of ELT Group Germany, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We are convinced that his leadership qualities will make a decisive contribution to further developing our strategic initiatives,” Mariucci added.

Since leaving the Bundeswehr, Holz has continued to be active as a reserve officer.
