The US arm of Israeli loitering munition (LM) specialist UVision Air has acquired Trim Robotics, which develops highly manoeuvrable next-generation rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)/LMs.

The acquisition, which was announced by UVision on 7 April 2025, strengthens the company’s portfolio by integrating its Hero series of LMs with Trim’s innovative quadcopter-based LM system, which UVision calls the QuadiKaze system in its press release but which is called the Peregrine system on the Trim Robotics website. This is a dual-frame rotary-wing LM system that offers “unprecedented aerodynamic efficiency and enhanced flight performance”, according to UVision. Unlike conventional rotary-wing solutions, Trim’s design integrates a dual fuselage to ensure superior in-flight control and optimised attack trajectories with a high angle of attack.

CGI animations on the Trim Robotics website appear to show that the QuadiKaze/Peregrine system can act as a highly manoeuvrable terminal LM, or alternatively drop a munition from above a target and then return to its controller, or simply act as a tactical reconnaissance UAV.

Trim Robotics advertises two systems on its website: the Peregrine SR short-range variant, which has a maximum payload of 250 g and endurances of 10 minutes in its lethal configuration and 18 minutes in its reconnaissance configuration; and the Peregrine MR mid-range variant, which has a maximum payload of 1.4 kg and endurances of 15 minutes in its lethal configuration and 27 minutes in its reconnaissance configuration.

The system thus bridges the gap between the limited manoeuvrability of traditional attack quadcopters and UVision’s advanced fixed-wing Hero series of LMs. The system offers significant operational advantages, including extended mission endurance and rapid engagement of time-sensitive targets. Its compact dual-fuselage design is ideal for urban warfare and dense environments such as forests and narrow alleyways. Autonomous target identification and attack capabilities ensure stealthy, high-speed engagements, enhancing the system’s lethality.

The system is man-portable, requires minimal training and allows for rapid deployment without extensive preparation. The air vehicle weighs approximately 4 kg and features a highly efficient payload-to-platform ratio.

“UVision continues to develop loitering munitions, and this acquisition demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the Hero family’s capabilities for tactical forces,” Dr Ran Gozali, CEO of UVision Air, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “The dual-fuselage design delivers ease of control and fixed-wing-grade kinetic performance. This approach aligns with our vision and portfolio, addressing the need for high-speed, precision loitering munitions in complex operational environments. Together, we will provide customers with next-generation solutions for modern battlefields.”

Jonathan Cohen, CEO of Trim Robotics, added, “This strategic investment and partnership represent a strong vote of confidence in our technology, capabilities and long-term vision. Partnering with UVision, a global leader in loitering munitions, enhances our ability to deliver advanced, mission-ready solutions. Together, we are accelerating the future of UAV innovation and meeting the evolving operational needs of modern defence [forces]. We value this partnership and are confident it will bring the Peregrine closer to those who need it most.”
