The latest version of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) produced by Sweden’s BAE Systems Hägglunds will be fitted with ballistic protection elements from Dutch company Integris Composites.
According to a 23 April 2025 statement from Integris, the company has been commissioned to supply ballistic protection modules for additional CV90 IFVs deployed by two European countries.
As far as is known, the Czech Republic has currently ordered 246 CV90MkIVs, which are to be delivered from 2026, while Slovakia has expressed interest in procuring CV90120s as a cost-effective alternative to the Leopard 2A8 main battle tank. Integris protection could be earmarked for these two European projects.
Integris Composites says it develops, manufactures and integrates complete vehicle protection systems based on add-on armour and spall liners. The armour solutions are fully compliant with NATO STANAG 4569 requirements and the customised armour modules can be seamlessly integrated into IFVs, armoured transport vehicles and other platforms that require a high level of protection and mobility. Lightweight composite and ceramic technologies are at the heart of these modules, reducing weight while improving combat capability. This material advantage ensures that the platforms maintain their mobility and manoeuvrability in the face of modern threats, according to Integris.
The company has been a strategic supplier of protective elements for BAE Systems for many years. Given that orders for military vehicles often require a certain degree of local added value, over the years Integris has built up expertise so that manufacturing can take place locally and local content requirements can be met.
“We always have a local content team ready to handle the transfer of certain technologies to another location,” said Henrik Jørstad, sales director at Integris. “With the same approach we will support BAE Systems in fulfilling their commitments to their customers.”
