Ukraine’s armed forces have put 10 pre-production Vols buggies into frontline service, a spokesman on the National Association of Ukrainian Defence Industries (NAUDI) stand told ESD at Poland’s MSPO 2025 defence exhibition, held at Targi Kielce from 2 to 5 September.

Developed by Ukrainian Armor, the Vols is a 4×2 rear-wheel drive buggy with a maximum road speed of 145 km/h and a maximum offroad speed of 120 km/h.

It is currently being used by Ukrainian FPV drone teams to rapidly enter and withdraw from frontline areas, thus minimising their exposure to Russian artillery fire or Russia’s own FPV drone operators.

The Vols can also be used as a highly mobile fire support platform, for the delivery of supplies and ammunition, or for medical evacuation from high-risk areas. The buggy has two seated positions for the driver and a passenger as well as being able to accommodate two stretcher positions.

Powered by a rear-mounted diesel engine offering 115 hp and a torque of 285 Nm, the Vols has a five-speed manual transmission, a gross weight of 1,400 kg and a payload capacity of up to 500 kg. It has a reinforced independent high-travel suspension with a ground clearance of 370 mm, a maximum climbing angle of 31˚, a maximum tilt angle of 20˚, a fording depth of 0.4-0.8 m and a minimum turning radius of 4 m.

The vehicle’s fuel tank capacity is 37 l, giving it a highway range of 600 km and a mixed-terrain range (40% off-road) of 350 km.

Although only at the pre-production stage, the Ukrainian Armor Vols buggy has already seen frontline service. [Ukrainian Armor]
