US systems integrator Mistral Inc and Uvision Inc (formerly UVision USA and the US arm of Israel’s Uvision) announced on 3 October 2025 that the US Army has awarded them a multi-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide Hero-120 loitering munitions under the Lethal Unmanned System (LUS) programme.
The award, valued at USD 982 million (EUR 836 million), will also see the companies provide training and lifecycle sustainment for the weapons, with initial deliveries expected to begin in early 2026.
The Hero-120 is a mid-range loitering munition optimised for precision engagement of armoured and high-value targets. The system provides ground units with organic battlefield awareness, target identification, tracking and precision engagement capabilities. Its open architecture, modular design and advanced payload options provide flexibility for both conventional and asymmetric operations.
“As a global pioneer and design authority in the field of loitering munitions, Uvision brings deep technical expertise and extensive experience in training and fielding loitering munitions for armies and special forces worldwide. Mistral Inc will serve as the prime contractor responsible for system integration, the lethality package, programme management and sustainment support,” the two companies stated in a joint press release.
“This contract marks a significant milestone in our partnership with the US Army and our strategic collaboration with Uvision,” Yoav Banai, senior vice president at Mistral Inc, was quoted as saying in the joint press release. “The Hero-120 delivers a powerful combination of lethality, flexibility and operational simplicity. We are proud to field this capability for US forces and to combine Uvision’s innovation with Mistral’s integration and programme-execution expertise.”
Dr Ran Gozali, CEO of Uvision Group, added, “We are honoured to support the US Army operational needs with smart loitering munitions. This award reflects the growing demand for loitering munitions and validates the operational value of the Hero-120 and the Hero family of systems. Together with Mistral, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of the modern warfighter.”
