Saab has received a contract from the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) for deliveries of the Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon system, ammunition and training equipment, Saab announced on 12 November 2025.

The quantity of M4 weapons was not specified, but Saab noted that the value of the order is SEK 510 million (EUR 46.6 million), with deliveries to take place 2026-2028.

The Carl-Gustaf is a manportable recoilless rifle that offers a considerable degree of tactical flexibility through its wide range of ammunition, allowing the weapon to be used against armour, structures, enemy personnel or in a support role (firing smoke). The latest M4 variant is less than 1 m in length and weighs less than 7 kg, allowing troops to react faster while remaining agile, and is backward-compatible with all legacy Carl-Gustaf ammunition.

The Danish armed forces have been using the Carl-Gustaf system, known in Denmark as the Dysekanon, since the 1970s and first acquired the latest M4 version in 2022.

“The Carl-Gustaf M4 offers unmatched precision, portability and a wide range of ammunition options, ensuring that Danish forces are well equipped to handle diverse and evolving threats,” Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We look forward to continuing our long-standing support for the Danish armed forces.”
