Anduril UK announced on 11 November 2025 the launch of a new test site in Wales.

The site is being used to test “a suite of AI-powered products for UK military use, including reconnaissance, command-and-control, and targeting capabilities”, the company stated, adding that “several of these sovereign capabilities are actively flying in the Welsh countryside while they are evaluated by Anduril engineers”.

While Anduril UK did not mention the specific location of the new test site, footage from a promotional video showed it to be Llanbedr Airfield within Snowdonia National Park in northwest Wales. The airfield opened in 1941 as part of Royal Air Force Fighter Command’s 12 Group, but has been in civilian hands since 1957 and in recent years has been used for various activities, including the test and evaluation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“Modernising and transforming the British military cannot happen overnight. Its ultimate success or failure will be determined by the days and months that our technologists will spend close to the problems at hand, evaluating new solutions and thinking through new ways of how to quickly build up combat power,” Anduril UK stated in a press release. “Here in Wales, we are developing that next frontier of advanced technologies for our sovereign defence; Anduril UK is building a testbed for globally competitive autonomy.

“Every technology evaluation we conduct is part of our core mission: strengthening and securing our defence,” the company added. “Anduril UK has already invested more than 40% of our internal revenue and capital into research and development to upscale military technology, including millions alone for the strategically vital autonomy sector. We feel there is a generational opportunity to strengthen our sovereign protection, create meaningful, lasting employment, and drive economic growth, but it must be harnessed through these mechanisms of investment.”

Anduril’s UK operation currently has a workforce “approaching 100 highly skilled employees” the company stated, but noted that it wants “to grow this number significantly – in short order – through investing in industrial capacity and the workforce needed to build it”.
