Saab has received two orders from Airbus Defence and Space for the Arexis electronic warfare (EW) sensor suite to equip German Eurofighters, the company announced on 14 November 2025.

The total value of the orders is approximately EUR 549 million, with deliveries to take place between now and 2028.

The first order marks the continuation of the contract signed with Airbus Defence and Space in March 2024 for the integration of the Arexis EW sensor suite onto Eurofighter EK (Elektronischer Kampf)-standard aircraft. That order is valued at approximately EUR 291 million and has been booked by Saab.

The second order includes AI technology from both Saab and its strategic partner Helsing. This order value is approximately EUR 258 million and is subject to authority approval.

The Luftwaffe plans to equip 15 Tranche 4 Eurofighters from its Project Quadriga order for 38 aircraft placed in November 2020 as well as all 20 Tranche 5 Eurofighters ordered in October 2025 with the Arexis system.

The core technologies in the Arexis suite are ultra-wideband digital receivers and digital radio frequency memory devices, gallium nitride solid-state active electronically scanned array (AESA) jammer transmitters and interferometric direction-finding systems. For the advanced electronic attack application, these technologies are adapted to the lower frequency ranges that are required to jam modern anti-stealth air defence systems, the output power is increased and everything is repacked in a pod to make it a role-specific solution.

“We are proud to deliver Arexis to the German Air Force, which further strengthens the Swedish-German co-operation,” Micael Johansson, president and CEO of Saab, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Arexis is one of the most advanced fully digital sensors and jamming systems available on the market. The system will improve the Eurofighter’s situational awareness and survivability on the modern battlefield.”
