The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has selected Lohr Group subsidiary Soframe to equip the French Army with heavy recovery vehicles (ELDs) following a competition launched in the spring of 2025, the company announced on 22 January 2026.

Under the resulting framework contract, the value of which was not disclosed, Soframe will provide an initial 20 vehicles in 2027, including five before the end of the first semester.

“These Heavy Recovery Vehicles are eagerly awaited by the French Army and will contribute to its goal of equipping the Combat Division in 2027,” Soframe stated. “The framework contract allows for the optional order of up to 80 additional units to significantly increase the current allocation.”

The French ELDs will be similar to the Protected Recovery Vehicles (PRVs) delivered by Soframe to the Belgian Army, further strengthening joint operations between the Belgian and French armed forces.

“Industrially, as for the PRV, the collaboration is European, as Soframe once again relies on its major partners: Jigé International, FN and Daimler Trucks,” the company stated.
