The German Armed Forces will receive their first MPE-M GPS receivers this year for testing and evaluation purposes. BAE Systems is supplying the miniaturised Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver (PLGR) in the scope of an FMS programme.
According to the manufacturer, the MPE-M receiver is the smallest and most powerful M-code GPS receiver for ground applications available today. M-Code is the coding according to military requirements with a particularly secure access procedure and high interference resistance (anti-jamming, anti-spoofing). The receiver weighs only 40 grams, measures 6.2 x 4.5 x 0.7 cm and consumes 4 mW of electrical power.
M-Code GPS technology enables precise, resilient and secure geolocation and positioning capabilities that improve the effectiveness of allied operations. Reliable navigation remains possible even if enemy forces jam or distort the GPS signal.
