BAE Systems and the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) have submitted a bid for the CV90 in response to the Slovak Republic’s requirement for 152 new IFVs in multiple variants, BAE Systems writes in a press release. According to the company, the offer intends to ensure the production and delivery of the CV90 in collaboration with local Slovak industry.

The joint filing by FMV and BAE Systems is believed to confirm the Swedish states’ support for Slovakia. The bid includes support with training, tactics and future development. BAE Systems Hägglunds, which manufactures the CV90 in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, has delivered several CV90 export programmes to European customers. In June 2021, the CV90 participated in dynamic and static demonstrations at the Military Technical and Testing Institute of Záhorie, Slovakia. The event featured the CV90 MkIV, an APC variant and the CV90120.

The IFV is in operation with:

  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • Norway
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • The Netherlands

There are nearly 1,300 CV90s of different variants in service.
