GM Defense and Anduril Industries have announced a teaming agreement focused on establishing a framework to collaborate on defence programme capture activities.
The announcement was made on 10 October 2023 as both companies exhibited variations of the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) at the 2023 Association of the US Army annual symposium in Washington, DC. GM Defense is displaying a four-seat Multi-Mission and Logistics ISV equipped with Anduril loitering munitions, while Anduril is hosting GM Defense’s nine-Soldier ISV, currently fielded to the US Army’s 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions.
In June 2020 the US Army awarded GM Defense, teamed with Ricardo, a USD 214 M (EUR 201.8 M) contract to build 649 ISVs.
“GM Defense has a strong strategic alignment with Anduril as we are both focused on bringing disruptive new technologies into the defence and government marketplace to deliver innovative solutions for our customers,” Steve duMont, GM Defense president, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We feel this is a powerful team, and together we can make a strong offering for key US defence programmes while assessing other global opportunities.”
With experience in ground vehicle autonomy, sensing, vehicle safety systems and connected vehicle fleet analytics, GM Defense develops solutions based on the advanced technologies of its parent company, General Motors, that help advance warfighter capabilities.
Anduril, meanwhile, is a leading provider of advanced defence technologies that include artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and integrated defence solutions.
“We are thrilled to be working with GM Defense to produce new capabilities for land systems,” Anduril Industries CEO Brian Schimpf was quoted as saying. “Advanced software for mission-level autonomy can transform ground systems, and GM Defense will be a critical teammate to deliver next-generation land systems for warfighters around the world.”
