Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) unveiled its new Micro Folding Battle Sight (MFBS) on 28 February 2024.

The system represents a unique design that addresses the challenge of combining co-witness back-up iron sights with higher-reflex sights alongside various accessories on a weapon’s picatinny rail. It is specifically developed to conserve the valuable space on the rail without compromising the availability of back-up sights, thus ensuring weapon reliability and functionality whenever needed and under any environmental conditions.

The MFBS sight can be lifted and folded when needed, in line with operational needs, and has a narrow profile in relation to the width of the picatinny rail. Having a low cross-section when folded back, the sight does not interfere with other sights or accessories placed on the weapon.

The MFBS can be adjusted with a simple tool, which makes field modifications easy, and is offered with or without tritium inserts. The front sight is offered in a narrow profile for sights without tritium inserts, while the rear sight is designed for a quick modification between small and large apertures.

The MFBS meets both NATO and MIL-STD drop tests.

IWI, Israel’s primary small arms producer, was formerly the small arms division of state-owned Israel Military Industries, but was privatised and renamed IWI in 2005, becoming part of the privately held SK Group.

“IWI developed the MFBS after identifying the need for detachable, durable sights that arose from the field,” Ronen Hamudot, executive vice president for marketing and sales of the SK Group, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Introducing the MFBS to the market represents our commitment to clients to provide comprehensive solutions, and to expanding our offering.”
