Israeli underwater warfare specialist DSIT Solutions is unveiling its new DogFish sonar system at the UDT 2024 exhibition, held in London’s ExCel Centre from 9-11 April 2024.
The DogFish sonar system, designed for integration with small underwater vehicles, can autonomously detect, track and classify underwater threats, especially small targets such as mini-submarines, semi-submersible vehicles, moored mines, and autonomous/unmanned underwater vehicles (AUVs/UUVs), in both littoral and deep waters. Operating in either active or passive mode or simultaneously in both, the system is suitable for tactical scenarios involving a wide range of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and homeland security missions.
Adaptable to any underwater vessel, the DogFish sonar system has already been integrated into a number of AUVs and, according to DSIT, several customers are already considering integrating the system into their AUV fleets.
“The DogFish will maximise the underwater awareness and safety of any navy’s littoral and coastal waters,” Shmuel Farbiyash, CEO of DSIT, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “As with all DSIT’s sonar systems, the DogFish sonar’s capabilities are based on the next generation of DSIT’s unique capabilities in acoustics analysis, adapting already-proven and fielded solutions that utilise automated algorithms, as well as state-of-the-art signal processing techniques. These technologies and the company’s advanced autonomous capabilities create a high level of underwater situational awareness critical for safeguarding today’s underwater environments.”
