RTX business Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a USD 65.8 million (EUR 61.2 million) engine maintenance contract by Saudi Arabia’s Middle East Propulsion Company (MEPC), the prime contractor of the Saudi Ministry of Defense for F100 engine sustainment services, RTX announced on 29 April 2024.
The contract involves supplying F100 spare parts and engine services in support of the fleet of Boeing F-15 Eagle combat aircraft operated by the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).
“This contract marks a transition to a more proactive and comprehensive sustainment solution that offers the Royal Saudi Air Force end-to-end efficiencies and greater affordability,” Josh Goodman, senior director of the F100 programme at Pratt & Whitney, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Pratt & Whitney will assume more responsibility for optimising fleet readiness, allowing the customer to focus on critical missions.”
Under the construct Pratt & Whitney will be more strategically integrated with MEPC and the RSAF, gaining streamlined insight into engine data and inventory management processes. Pratt & Whitney will provide forecasting, technical support and timely material delivery to enable stronger operational readiness, more efficient predictive maintenance, optimal module turn times and improved engine availability, the company stated.
Work on the contract began in January 2024 and will run through the second half of 2025.
The RSAF operates a fleet of around 230 F-15C/D/S/SA multirole fighters, which were delivered from 1982.
