Israeli electro-optical system specialist Meprolight unveiled its MMX3/MMX4 micro magnifiers for assault rifles on 1 October 2024. The compact and lightweight magnifiers, which provide either ×3 or ×4 magnification for any red dot sight respectively, are designed to significantly enhance a soldier’s accuracy, range and observation capabilities.
“In today’s conflict scenarios, the perception of assault rifles has shifted,” Meprolight stated in a press release. “Military forces, police forces, fast-response teams and other security agencies use assault rifles equipped with red-dot sights. Meprolight’s magnifiers enable those users to achieve faster target identification and extremely high shooting precision at a lower cost compared with constant or variable-magnification optical sights.”
The MMX3/MMX4 micro magnifiers do not need to be zeroed and can be quickly attached to any MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail directly behind the rifle’s optic when needed to provide enhanced magnification without time-consuming adjustments.
With a quick-release Picatinny adapter and a side flip mechanism where agility and speed are of the utmost importance, the MMX3/MMX4 micro magnifiers allow a user to achieve rapid target acquisition with both eyes open, maintaining a full field of view (FOV); the magnifier can be quickly engaged whenever the mission requires.
Compact and weighing less than 200 g the MMX3 and MMX4 have a small footprint, saving rail space and weight for the user. Elevation and windage adjusters provide precise alignment of FOV with the sight’s reticle.
“The Mepro MMX3 and MMX4 were developed to meet the growing need for improved shooting capabilities in the field,” Golan Kalimi, senior vice president for marketing at Meprolight, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We are proud that these magnifiers have already been operationally proven and are being used by the IDF, Israel Police, and other forces around the world. By enhancing long-range target acquisition and short-range precision all at a reasonable cost, capabilities that were previously reserved for specialised marksmen are now available for every soldier and user, significantly contributing to force mission success.”
