German company Rohde & Schwarz has added a new counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (C-UAV) solution to its portfolio called Ardronis Detect, the company announced on 30 October 2024.

A low-cost C-UAV software-based solution designed to detect and identify various types of UAVs, Ardronis Detect is the basis component of the wider Ardronis system, which is a comprehensive C-UAV solution that offers advanced detection, localisation and identification capabilities. The system is designed to detect UAVs using a range of signals, including frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) as well as analogue and digital video signals.

Ardronis Detect operates via the Ardronis Control Center software (which provides a user-friendly interface for scanning, displaying detected signals and other options) and requires a Rohde & Schwarz UMS400 or EM200 receiver with specific software options to function. It can be used in combination with existing command-and control-systems, including Ardronis Locate Compact, Ardronis Locate Advanced and Ardronis Effect.

“We are excited to launch Ardronis Detect: a game-changing counter-drone solution that offers advanced detection and identification capabilities,” Jens Steinwandt, head of C-UAV product management at Rohde & Schwarz, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Our solution is designed to provide customers with a comprehensive and effective counter-drone system that meets their specific needs and requirements.

“It is highly versatile and can be deployed in various settings, including fixed, semi-mobile and mobile configurations,” Steinwandt added. “The system is designed to be easily integrated with existing infrastructure, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications, including defence, security and critical infrastructure [protection].”
