Slovenian tactical clothing manufacturer UF PRO announced the launch of a new line in battle dress uniform (BDU) on 7 November 2024 that the company is billing as its lightest BDU yet, specifically designed for the challenges of tropical environments.

The Striker TT BDU combines fast-drying materials with ergonomic design features to ensure maximum comfort and performance in hot and humid conditions.

The design of the Striker TT BDU originated from a collaboration with elite special forces to create a uniform suited for jungle warfare. This effort led to several prototypes, including one featuring lightweight Polyamide fabric that improved drying capabilities and durability while maintaining comfort during field tests. This quickly gained acceptance among operators for its performance in challenging environments, with its success ultimately paving the way for the Striker TT BDU.

Matija Kozina, an application specialist at UF PRO, was quoted in a company press release as saying, “The Polyamide material not only reduces weight but also enhances breathability, making it ideal for hot and humid conditions.”

UF PRO further states that the Striker TT BDU has been engineered to dry quickly, managing sweat and humidity, while providing both flexibility and durability.

“Thoughtful reinforcements, combined with stretch panels and a streamlined design, provide the necessary support for dynamic movements while ensuring robust protection,” the company stated. “Optional UF PRO three-layer knee protection and additional elbow protection further enhances mobility and safety, allowing wearers to operate confidently in challenging conditions.”

The Striker TT BDU employs the UF PRO air/pac system in the shoulder area, which provides effective shock absorption to reduce fatigue during prolonged use. Meanwhile, breathable hip padding enhances support and airflow, allowing for extended wear without discomfort, while the UF PRO Waist/Flex System ensures unrestricted movement while maintaining a secure fit.

Additionally, integrated insect protection features, effective ventilation, and abrasion-resistant reinforcements at critical points are among the features that make the Striker TT BDU “perfectly suited for the rigours of tropical terrain”, according to UF PRO.

Dejan Kastelic, head of research and development at UF PRO, concluded, “The Striker TT BDU is more than a standard uniform; it’s designed specifically for the tough demands of tropical environments, allowing operators to stay focused, knowing their gear won’t let them down.”
