RTX’s Raytheon business has been awarded a USD 529 million (EUR 513.6 million) contract to supply the Netherlands with a Patriot air and missile defence system fire unit and related equipment, RTX announced on 16 January 2025.
The direct commercial sales contract, which supports the replenishment of a Patriot fire unit donated by the Netherlands to Ukraine, includes a single fire unit consisting of a radar, launchers, command-and-control stations and other support equipment.
“Raytheon is committed to partnering with the Dutch as they continue to advance their integrated air and missile defence capabilities,” Pete Bata, senior vice president of global Patriot programmes at Raytheon, was quoted by the company as saying. “The Netherlands’ investment in Patriot ensures collective security and deterrence across Europe,” he added.
Raytheon bills the Patriot system as the only combat-proven ground-based air and missile defence capability in the world able to defend against advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles and the full spectrum of air-breathing threats.
The Patriot system is the foundation of air defencecapabilities for 19 countries, Raytheon noted, adding that the system continues to demonstrate its effectiveness against advanced aerial threats and massive, complex air attacks.
Work on this latest Dutch contract will primarily be conducted at Raytheon sites in Andover, Massachusetts, and Huntsville, Alabama.
