Spanish company Instalaza has developed a new system called the Hispano Multi-Purpose Weapon (MPW) that made its debut at the FEINDEF 2025 defence exhibition, held in Madrid from 12 to 14 May.
The new recoilless 90 mm weapon, which has an effective range of 650 m when firing anti-tank rounds, is fully compatible with the ammunition range of Instalaza’s C90 recoilless weapon system and can thus fire a variety of natures, including anti-tank, dual-purpose, anti-bunker, smoke masking and enhanced blast rounds.
The Hispano MPW has multiple sighting options, depending on customer requirements, the most sophisticated example being a fire control unit that combines an optical sight with a thermal imager and laser rangefinder. Alternatively, the Hispano can be fitted with a simpler option in the form of the C90’s e-IVISION opto-electronic sight, to which can be added a night vision sight.
While details of the Hispano MPW at FEINDEF 2025 were sparse, an Instalaza spokesperson at the show told ESD that the system is “ready to be sold”, with its development complete, its design validated and testing concluded.
The spokesperson added that Instalaza, which typically exports around 85% of its sales, already has a customer for the Hispano MPW, with a firm contract expected by the end of the year.
