The Armament Agency of the Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND) has contracted WB Group to supply additional FlyEye unmanned aerial systems (UASs).
A fourth executive agreement for the delivery of multiple FlyEye UAS sets was signed on 24 October by WB Group President Piotr Wojciechowski and Colonel Piotr Paluch, deputy head of the Armament Agency. As well as the UAS sets, the contract includes technical documentation as well as comprehensive repair, logistics and training packages.
“This agreement represents another important step in strengthening the reconnaissance capabilities of the Polish armed forces,” WB Group stated ina press release. “It supports the equipping of operational units with advanced, battle-proven, Polish-made systems and reflects the ongoing, long-term co-operation between WB Group and the Polish defence sector.
The FlyEye systems to be delivered will be integrated with the WB Group-developed Topaz combat management system, ensuring full compatibility with mortars, self-propelled howitzers and rocket launchers currently in Polish service. This integration enables the efficient use of aerial reconnaissance data in tactical decision-making processes.
Th-s latest executive contract continues the implementation of a framework agreement concluded on 5 September 2023 during the 31st International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce. The agreement covers the delivery of more than 400 FlyEye sets developed and manufactured by Flytronic: a company that has been part of WB Group since 2009.
The FlyEye is a mini-UAS designed for airborne image reconnaissance. Using modular payloads equipped with both daylight and thermal imaging cameras, the system conducts effective day-and-night operation under all weather conditions.
The system has been proven operationally both in Poland and abroad – by Polish military contingents, operational forces, and the territorial defence forces, WB Group noted. FlyEye is also widely used in ongoing combat operations in Ukraine, where WB Group says it has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness and resilience in real battlefield conditions.
