MBDA has signed a contract amendment with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) enabling follow-on deliveries of the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM), the company announced on 13 November 2025.

This latest contract follows an initial CAMM order announced on 16 November 2023. The missiles are used in the MBDA Sea Ceptor air defence system being integrated into the Swedish Navy’s fleet of five Visby-class corvettes.

Sea Ceptor was chosen for the corvettes to give them an air defence capability as part of a mid-life upgrade.

The latest-generation CAMM missile delivers a common stockpile for short- to medium-range air defence systems in both the maritime and land domains. Its soft vertical launch technology creates a minimal launch signature and provides 360° coverage with a high rate of fire and high performance against multiple simultaneous threats.

CAMM operators, according to MBDA, have described its precision as so accurate it can strike targets as small as a tennis ball traveling at twice the speed of sound.

“This latest contract from Sweden is also a testament to the continuation of MBDA’s proud history of partnership with the country and deepening MBDA’s ties with Swedish industry,” the company stated. “Co-operation such as this is at the core of MBDA’s DNA; it is a golden thread through multiple successful programmes. Building on these successes give us confidence in our future collaborations.”

Lorenzo Mariani, MBA’s executive group director for sales and business development, was quoted in a company press release as stating, “Sweden continues to place its trust in MBDA’s world-class capabilities with this contract for further CAMM. Through continued partnership with MBDA in the air defence domain, Sweden is strengthening the protection of its sovereign airspace, while maintaining interoperability and security with its European and NATO allies. CAMM is a missile that has proven itself against the type of evolving threats we are seeing today, and we are honoured to play a critical role in supporting Swedish armed forces.”
