Saab has received a third order for its Mobile Short Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) system from the Lithuanian Defence Materiel Agency, the company announced on 1 December 2025.
The order is valued at around SEK 1.4 billion (EUR 130 million), with deliveries to take place in the 2026-2030 timeframe.
Under the contract Saab will deliver a third battery of MSHORAD systems to the Lithuanian armed forces, with Saab integrating the systems onto 4×4 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) manufactured by Oshkosh Defense.
MSHORAD is Saab’s vehicle-integrated mobile air defence solution, which acts as a protective shield for moving units. It consists of mobile radar and firing units, based on the Giraffe 1X radar and RBS 70 NG short-range air defence missile respectively, all connected via a ground-based air defence command-and-control (GBAD C2) system and datalink between the units. The system is designed to provide highly mobile, quick and effective detection, identification and engagement of aerial threats.
“We are proud to continue contributing to keeping the Lithuanian skies safe,” Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Our mobile air defence system can withstand even the most advanced countermeasures, giving the user the capability to plan for the expected and to successfully react to the unexpected.”
