General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) – Bridge Systems has received a contract from the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) for the delivery of the M3 amphibious bridge and ferry system, GDELS announced on 28 November 2025.
Norway thus becomes the third member of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) group of nations to procure the M3 after Sweden and Denmark.
“This latest order will further strengthen interoperability within NATO, as six member states will now use the M3,” GDELS stated. “The amphibious system has established itself as the fastest and most flexible means for wet gap crossing on the market and has already proven its suitability for the northern theatre of operations.”
On 30 October 2025 GDELS announced that both Germany and the United Kingdom had ordered new-generation M3 systems to replace their existing fleets via Europe’s Joint Organisation for Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR) under the binational Wide Wet Gap Crossing programme.
In October 2021 it was announced that Latvia would receive M3s systems under a contract covered by the US Army under an initiative to help the country address a NATO requirement for additional wet-gap crossing solutions in the Baltic region.
