The Bundeswehr has placed a major order with ARTEC, the joint venture between KNDS Germany and Rheinmetall, for RCH155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers (SPHs), the two companies announced on 19 December 2025.

The order, for 84 RCH155s, was placed under a framework agreement between ARTEC and Germany’s Federal Office of Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) that covers a total of 500 RCH155 systems, which can also be called up by other nations.

The order value for ARTEC for the first 84 wheeled howitzers and associated training equipment, service and logistical support is around EUR 1.2 billion.

The RCH 155 armoured wheeled howitzer combines unmanned, fully automated and remote-controlled KNDS Artillery Gun Module (AGM) with the protection and mobility of the ARTEC Boxer 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle. It is billed by KNDS as the only SPH worldwide capable of firing while on the move. The system’s 155 mm/L52 main gun has a rate of fire of nine rounds per minute and a range of up to 40 km.

The first user of the RCH155 SPH is Ukraine, which has directly ordered 54 RCH155s from KNDS Germany in three batches.
