Rohde & Schwarz announced the successful signing of a contract with PGZ Stocznia Wojenna in relation to Poland’s Miecznik frigate programme on 9 July 2024, marking the start of a long-term sustainable naval market partnership in Poland.
Under the contract Rohde & Schwarz will deliver naval communications as well as radar and communications electronic support measures (RCESM) for the three Miecznik-class multi-role frigates.
The contract will see Rohde & Schwarz supply the Polish Navy with a state-of-the-art RCESM system, which is designed to provide advanced ESM for naval applications. The system will be installed on the Miecznik frigates, currently under construction at PGZ, and will detect and identify potential threats, ensuring the ships’ safety and security.
“We are honoured to have been selected by PGZ to provide the RCESM system for the Miecznik frigates of the Polish Navy,” Michael Niewöhner, vice president for electronic intelligence/RESM at Rohde & Schwarz, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “This contract is a testament of our commitment to providing the highest quality technology and solutions to our customers, and we are looking forward to working closely with PGZ to ensure a successful deployment of the system on the new frigates.”
The RCESM system is a key component of Rohde & Schwarz’s naval portfolio. The system is designed to be configurable and scalable, making it suitable for a wide range of naval applications. It is already in service with another navy, Rohde & Schwarz noted, while declining to name the client.
