EuroTrophy has been awarded a major contract by KNDS Deutschland for the delivery of 123 Trophy active protection systems (APS) for the German Army’s latest Leopard 2 A8 main battle tank (MBT) fleet, the company announced on 4 December 2024.

EuroTrophy is the European hub for the marketing, sale and production of the Trophy APS, which was developed by Israel’s Rafael. Based in Frankfurt, EuroTrophy is a joint company of Rafael, KNDS and General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS).

Alongside the APS systems, the German Leopard 2 A8 contract also includes initial spare parts packages and services to successfully integrate the Trophy system into the technical, operational and logistic chain of the German Army.

This marks the second major award for EuroTrophy within the last 12 months, after the Norwegian Army’s selection of Trophy as the APS for its Leopard 2 A8 fleet.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

“We are honoured and grateful for this award, as it clearly demonstrates the high confidence our customer KNDS has in our combat-proven active protection system. With this step, Trophy has become an integral part of the Leopard 2 A8 standard configuration,” Dan Kalfus, managing director of EuroTrophy, was quoted as saying in a company press release.

“This contract award marks a major milestone and achievement in our joint effort to supply worldclass technology to our European customers,” added Dr Thomas Kauffmann, chairman of the supervisory board of EuroTrophy. “We are convinced that Trophy will be the first choice for many other NATO and European users that want to equip their MBT and IFV fleets with a Europe-made active protection system.”

As well as producing the APS itself, EuroTrophy also provides a wide range of related services, such as vehicle integration support, maintenance, and introduction-into-service and through-life support of the Trophy system.
