IP video solutions provider VITEC announced on 5 December 2023 the opening of its office in Porto, Paranhos, in Portugal. The permanent base will serve as a growing software engineering hub for VITEC that will play a key role in the company’s long-term development strategy to further enhance its IPTV, video streaming and digital signage solutions.

“This long-term investment in our Porto office demonstrates that VITEC is committed to providing the best tools and environments that we can in order to support our R&D team to develop our next generation of products and applications,” Philippe Wetzel, CEO and founder of VITEC, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “We are looking forward to working with the region’s top engineering talent to strengthen our offering, as well as becoming an integral part of Porto’s thriving tech community.”

VITEC first established its presence in Portugal in 2019 within UPTEC: a science and technology park that provides co-working office spaces and a centre for networking tailored to technology experts. The company’s rapid growth necessitated the search for a larger, permanent office.

The new office is located close to local tech universities, which will allow students to work with VITEC while they study, increasing their skills and providing them with the opportunity to gain valuable first-hand industry experience. The location also has strong transport links, with the Porto Metro situated nearby.

“We’re delighted to be in our new office after lots of hard work and planning,” said Sofia Rodrigues, Software Team Lead for VITEC. “With this fantastic new permanent space, we are well positioned to attract top engineering talent to help us further improve our solutions. We’re excited to play our role in VITEC’s growth, and we can’t wait to welcome more members to the team.”
