Singapore-based security specialist TRD Systems has recently completed a major, fast-tracked ‘drone gun’ delivery to a customer in the Middle East, the company noted in a recent press release.
The company’s Orion-H “ruggedised handheld drone disruptor” is part of a family of counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (counter-UAV) systems offered by TRD, which extends to the fully integrated Orion-I system, which features an RF direction finder, radar, long-range camera (day and night) and counter-UAV defeat system. The Orion-I system can be deployed in a fixed configuration or embarked on various platforms for mobile operations.
As the need for counter-UAV systems grows, especially in the Middle East, TRD is looking to anchor a stronger foothold in the region. With this in mind, TRD has established a joint venture (JV) with a local Saudi partner to offer local production of TRD’s man-portable systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. TRD hopes to bring advanced counter-UAV technology to the Middle East and build a local capability in Saudi Arabia by transferring the technology and production know-how to this JV.
“The Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, is the top priority market for TRD in 2024,” the company’s CEO and founder, Sam Ong, was quoted as saying in a company press release. “As we see substantive business opportunities and the local production capability, we have set our sights on achieving USD 100 million [EUR 93 million] revenue from the Middle East region.”
TRD has submitted multiple proposals that include local production plans as part of its Middle East expansion strategy and is exhibiting at the World Defense Show (WDS), held in Riyadh from 4-8 February 2024, to increase its profile.
