Last year the Czech government approved the acquisition of 246 CV90 MkIV tracked infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and the Czech defence sector is to play an important role in their production. EVPÚ Defence, as a manufacturer of electro-optical systems for military and civil applications, has recently joined the list of local companies that will participate in the programme.

The CV90 IFVs are to feature EVPU Defence’s commander’s sight, which enables the vehicle commander to conduct observation, reconnaissance and target acquisition. The system consists of a day zoom camera, a cooled thermal imaging camera and a laser rangefinder. Thanks to this combination of sensors, the commander’s sight is capable of fulfilling its function day and night, in all light and weather conditions.

The body of the system is ruggedised, resistant to shocks and vibrations and equipped with ballistic protection against damage caused by indirect hits. Overall, the commander’s sight represents one of the key elements of the vehicle equipment, as it provides a complete overview of the situation on the battlefield, speeds up the response to threats and increases the efficiency of decision-making during operations.

For EVPU Defence this will be far from the first system whose end user is the Czech Land Forces, which already have at their disposal the company’s remote-controlled weapon stations for machine guns up to 12.7 mm calibre, gunner’s sights and a modular situational awareness system. In addition to these products, EVPU Defence’s range of military systems also includes a laser and radar warning system and remote-controlled weapon stations for machine guns up to 7.62 mm calibre. Thanks to its unique know-how and strong export orientation, the company’s defence and security solutions are known and used worldwide.
