Damen Naval has extended its 2021 contract with Canada’s OSI Maritime for the supply of Integrated Bridge Management Systems (IBMSs) for the F126 frigates from four to six, OSI announced on 4 September 2024.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded the additional IBMS shipsets for the F126. The relationship with Damen and the German Navy has developed at an impressive pace, and we are proud of the value we provide to these world-class organisations,” said OSI President and CEO Ken Kirkpatrick.

OSI’s IBMS, which is based on the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECPINS), has proven itself in the German Navy in the K130 corvette, among others. In addition, according to OSI, 12 small boats for the F126 frigates, the KSM (special forces) and the German Navy’s Sea Battalion will be equipped with OSI’s high-speed and tactical navigation solution, as well as a large number of operational and technical training simulators.

According to OSI’s description, ECPINS is the centrepiece of OSI’s IMO type-approved IBMS and represents over 35 years of continuous development as the leading Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System (WECDIS) among NATO and Allied navies. According to OSI, ECPINS’ capabilities and scalability meet the needs of surface ships, submarines and high-speed small craft, enabling fleet sharing, interoperability and reduced maintenance and training costs. In addition, ECPINS and OSI’s IBMS technology enable integration with various other warship systems.

In July 2024 OSI announced the opening of an office in Kiel. The company plans to exhibit its products at the DWT Marine Workshop in Linstow, Germany, from 23 to 25 September 2024.
