An international NATO customer has placed an order with Rheinmetall for the production of mortar rounds for the NATO partner’s armed forces, the German-headquartered company announced on 25 September 2024.
The identity of the NATO customer was not disclosed.
The value of the order, which was booked at the beginning of the third quarter of 2024, “corresponds to a volume in the mid-double-digit-million euro range”, according to Rheinmetall.
In total, a six-digit number of mortar rounds of various types will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain. The order also includes various additional services as part of the contract.
Delivery of the ammunition is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025 and be completed by the summer of 2026.
