Saab has received an order in relation to the maintenance and modernisation of the German Air Force’s inventory of Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missiles, the company announced on 3 March 2025.
The value of the order is SEK 1.7 billion (EUR 150 million) and the contract period is 2025-2035.
The order includes significant system upgrades to and modernisation of the German Air Force’s Taurus missiles as well as 10 years of lifecycle maintenance.
Saab received the order from the German prime contractor Taurus Systems: a joint venture between MBDA Germany and Saab that was contracted by Germany’s defence procurement office (BAAINBw) to maintain and modernise Germany’s Taurus cruise missiles in December 2024.
“Taurus KEPD 350 enables the user to defeat targets at long ranges required for the most demanding air operations. The latest upgrades will provide the German Air Force with significant improvements,” Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, was quoted as saying in a company press release.
The Taurus KEPD 350 is an air-launched cruise missile with a range of more than 500 km that is used to defeat static ground targets.
