Saab has received an order for its Mobile Short-Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) solution from the Czech Ministry of Defence, the company announced on 23 July 2025.

Saab did not specify the number of MSHORAD units being ordered, but noted that the order is valued at SEK 1.8 billion (EUR 160 million), with deliveries set to take place from 2028 to 2030.

The Czech MSHORAD order includes Saab mobile firing units based on the RBS 70 NG short-range air defence system along with its Bolide surface-to-air missiles. Saab will install the firing units onto MARS S-330 vehicles manufactured by Czech company SVOS and will integrate a command-and-control (C2) system delivered by a Czech partner as well as a third-party radar already in operation with the Czech armed forces.

As Saab’s vehicle-integrated mobile air defence solution, MSHORAD can be delivered as a complete turnkey solution or, as with this Czech order, integrate specific C2 and radar solutions according to customer requirements.

“We are proud to continue supporting the capability of the Czech Armed Forces, who already operate our RBS 70 NG air defence system in its man-portable setup,” noted Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, in a company press release. “Our MSHORAD solution complements this with a highly mobile configuration, providing additional protection for troops on the move,” he added.
