The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has contracted Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) for the delivery of Protector RS4 remote weapon stations (RWS), KDA announced on 8 December 2025.

The contract, which is valued at more than SEK 400 million (EUR 36.53 million), primarily covers Protector RS4 RWSs for three variants of Swedish Army CV90 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) but also covers RWSs for other army vehicles.

The Protector RS4 RWS is a modernised version of the army’s existing Protector Nordic variant. It is a highly flexible, fully stabilised system designed for small- and medium-calibre weapons, including the mounting of coaxial weapons and anti-tank guided weapons, and can accommodate various sensors according to customer requirements.

The Protector RS4 system adds many important capabilities, including integrated sensors and the ability to operate several different weapon systems at longer distances while remaining protected inside the vehicle.

Kongsberg weapons stations have already been procured for the Swedish Army’s Common Armoured Vehicle System 300 (Patria 6×6) armoured vehicles and Archer wheeled self-propelled howitzers.

Swedish Army CV90 IFVs as well as other vehicles will receive the KDA Protector RS4 remote weapon station. [KDA]
