The US arm of Israel’s Uvision and its US partner Mistral and announced on 18 January 2026 that Uvision’s Hero 90 loitering munition has been selected by Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier to participate in the US Army’s Low Altitude Stalking and Strike Ordnance (LASSO) programme.
LASSO is an urgent US Army initiative to provide the dismounted units of its brigade combat teams (BCTs) with a man-portable, precision loitering munition capability for rapid, lethal engagement of armoured threats.
The Hero 90 system “delivers extended-range, counter-armour precision from a highly portable form factor, supporting rapid launch by a single operator in under two minutes”, Uvision noted in a press release. Configurable warheads (including anti-armour), mission-abort/re-engage options and secure beyond-line-of-sight communications allow the Hero 90 to provide decisive top-attack effects at ranges exceeding 40 km. The system has an endurance of up to 45 minutes.
Jarmin Blanton, vice president of business development and marketing at Uvision Inc, was quoted in a company press release as stating, “The army’s LASSO programme is accelerating a transformational anti-armour capability for dismounted units. Hero 90 was designed precisely for this mission: fast to deploy, lethal at range, and adaptable through open architectures. We’re proud to collaborate with Mistral to deliver this overmatch to US soldiers.”
Yoav Banai, senior vice president at Mistral, added that the US Army’s selection of the Hero 90 reflected its focus on portability, lethality and Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)-ready integration.
“Together with Uvision, Mistral will support [PEO Soldier’s Project Manager] Soldier Precision Targeting Devices with a solution that aligns to common control and integrates seamlessly across the BCT kill chain,” he said.
