BISim to deliver Canadian Army’s Digital Virtual Trainer programme

The Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) has awarded BAE Systems subsidiary ​​Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) a five-year enterprise licence contract to deliver its Digital Virtual Trainer (DVT) programme, BAE Systems announced on 25 August 2025.

The DVT programme is intended provide immersive, flexible and highly scalable synthetic training to support mission readiness across the Canadian Army. BISim’s DVT solution is built around its ecosystem of simulation products, at the heart of which is its Virtual Battlespace 4 (VBS4) whole-Earth virtual desktop training and simulation host. This is paired with BISim’s Blue IG 3D whole-earth image generator to deliver immersive visual realism and seamless integration with legacy systems.

The solution will allow Canadian Army personnel to plan, rehearse, execute and conduct after-action reviews of complex missions in immersive virtual environments across the globe through realistic first-person training experiences and large-scale collective training exercises.

To maximise flexibility and give the Canadian Army the ability to replicate a global range of training scenarios with high fidelity, DVT also includes TerraTools Platinum: advanced terrain generation software that enables the rapid creation of geo-specific, mission-tailored environments using real-world Geographic Information System data.

The DVT contract award follows a competitive evaluation process and reflects BISim’s strong track record of delivering mission-critical simulation solutions to allied defence forces worldwide, BAE Systems added.
