According to Dmitry Shugaev, Head of the Russian Federal Service on Military-Technical Cooperation with Foreign States, the military part of the Russian national pavilion at the Dubai Air Show will feature a prototype of the CHECKMATE light tactical aircraft (LTA), Mi-28NE and Ka-52E combat helicopters plus the ORION drone. Both gunships are scheduled to participate in the flight programme.
The LTA’s international debut marks a kind of Russian come-back to the world market of single-engine fighters, Mr Shugaev said. Furthermore, he mentioned that Russian defence exports to the MENA region have been at least US$6Bn per year over the past five years “with a definite upward trend”. The MENA region is among the top five largest buyers of the Russian defence equipment alongside China, India and Latin America, Mr Shugaev said
