Raytheon Anschütz has introduced the Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System (WECDIS) for the Command and Control of warships. WECDIS is based on ECDIS NX, the version for civilian applications, and features extended functions to support both naval surface vessels and submarines. Features and chart options are individually configurable while certain mission functions allow configuration according to NATO STANAG 4564 Ed. 3.

According to the company, WECDIS’ new functionalities and capabilities include:

  • Additional military layer (such as AML) and further chart support
  • Navigational and tactical overlays, including sensors, effectors and military grid systems
  • Navigation aids for special missions, including target intercept and search & rescue
  • Waterspace management, including moving haven and disposition
  • Anti-submarine warfare
